LS Swap Base Tune Service
Getting an LS swap running often requires configuring the ECU for your specific engine combination. Midgard Industries offers base startup tunes for Gen III LS PCMs to help get your project running quickly.
- ✓ P01 & P59 supported
- ✓ Drive-by-cable & drive-by-wire
- ✓ Fast turnaround
What the Base Tune Includes
Every base startup tune covers the essential ECU changes required before an LS swap will start and run correctly in the new chassis.
VATS Removal
The factory Vehicle Anti-Theft System is disabled so the engine will run in the new chassis without seeing the original GM security signal. Without this, the engine will start and immediately stall.
Injector & MAP Setup
Injector flow rate, dead times, and offset data are configured to match the injectors installed on the engine. MAP sensor type and scaling are set to match the sensor in your build — 1-bar, 2-bar, or 3-bar.
Electric Fan Control
Fan trigger temperatures, hysteresis, and A/C request logic are configured to match the cooling system in the new chassis. Unconfigured fan settings can lead to overheating on the first drive.
Transmission Configuration
4L60E and 4L80E parameters are set for correct shift behavior in the new vehicle — shift tables, line pressure, TCC lockup strategy, and gear ratio matched to your rear axle and tire size.
Displacement & Diagnostics
Engine displacement is set to match the installed engine. Unused rear O2, catalytic converter, and emissions diagnostics are disabled to keep the ECU clean and free of nuisance fault codes.
Base Startup Calibration
Fueling and spark tables are set to a safe, conservative starting baseline so the engine will idle and drive without causing damage while you work toward a full tune.
Optional Setup
These items can be added to the base tune depending on your build's needs.
Speed Density Configuration
Full speed density (MAP-only) setup including VE table base calibration scaled to your engine. Recommended for builds that are not running a MAF sensor or have a non-stock intake configuration.
Cam Idle Adjustment
Idle airflow, IAC counts, and idle spark advance are adjusted to account for a larger aftermarket camshaft. Stock idle parameters will cause a rough, unstable idle on a cammed engine.
VE Table Base Calibration
A starting VE (volumetric efficiency) table scaled to your engine displacement and combination. Provides a better fueling baseline than a stock table when the engine combination differs significantly from factory.
Base Tune Pricing
Straightforward pricing for LS swap startup calibration. No hidden fees — price includes the full scope listed below.
Standard Base Setup
Everything needed to get a standard LS swap started and idling. Best for MAF-based setups or builds where a full speed density calibration is not required.
- VATS removal
- Injector size configuration
- MAP sensor setup
- Electric fan control
- Transmission configuration (4L60E / 4L80E)
- Engine displacement set
- Disable unused emissions diagnostics
- Base startup calibration
Speed Density Base Setup
Includes everything in the standard base setup plus a full speed density configuration and VE table base calibration scaled to your engine.
- All standard base setup items
- Speed density (MAP-only) configuration
- VE table base calibration
- Cam idle adjustment (if applicable)
Perfect For
This service is designed for any LS swap project where the engine needs to be configured to run in a new chassis without the original GM security and vehicle systems.
Any chassis receiving an LS engine for the first time.
C10s, Squarebodies, and other vintage GM trucks with LS swaps.
First-gen Camaros, Chevelles, and other classic A-body and F-body builds.
Jeeps, Broncos, and custom off-road vehicles running an LS.
Any custom build or swap project that needs a clean starting baseline.
Supported ECUs
This service covers Gen III LS PCMs. Both drive-by-cable and drive-by-wire throttle bodies are supported.
P01 PCM
Used in 1999–2002 LS1/LS6 cars and trucks. One of the most common ECUs in LS swap builds. Fully supported for base startup tunes, VATS removal, and speed density configuration.
P59 PCM
Used in 2003–2007 LS1/LS2/LS6 applications. Expanded feature set over the P01 and widely used in performance swap builds. Fully supported for all base tune and optional setup items.
Ready to get your LS swap running?
